ABB to showcase new technologies at EIC Connect Oil and Gas 2012

Managing cyber security threats and the latest developments in functional safety practices are just some of the many hot topics that can be discussed with our engineers on stand A54 at the EIC Connect Oil and Gas exhibition, held on 27-28th November 2012 at Manchester Central Convention Complex, Petersfield.

At the event, which tackles topics such as control, instrumentation, electrical and telecoms challenges and best practice throughout the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, we will also be showcasing ways to significantly reduce capital expenditure (CAPEX), while addressing scheduling concerns and highlighting ways to manage project risks.

Visitors will also see a video demonstration of the company’s System 800xA distributed control system (DCS), and discover its pivotal role in ARC Advisory Group’s decision to rank ourselves as the number one control system supplier – an accolade retained for the past 10 years.

The latest thinking in operator workstations will be covered in the demonstration, with our industry leading experts who will be explaining how you can set up your operators for success through the design of safe, efficient and effective control room environments.

Among a number of our products being exhibited at the exhibition, is the new SIL-rated high pressure version of ABB’s 266 pressure transmitter. The transmitter is designed to meet growing demand from the oil and gas industry and power markets, which frequently require differential pressure transmitters with higher working pressures.

With an upper range limit of 1050 bar, and offering a base accuracy of 0.15 per cent, the transmitter provides accurate measurement for wellhead applications including high pressure injection and gas compression.

Other pressure transmitters on display incorporate ABB’s Plugged Impulse Line Detection (PILD) technology. This technology uses an algorithm to compare the current performance of a pressure device against a background ‘template’ set during the commissioning stage, enabling it to identify the existence and scale of any blockages.
Another exhibit will be ABB’s ProcessMaster flowmeter. With a choice of liner, sensor electrode and high pressure options, plus diagnostic capabilities, the ProcessMaster delivers accurate flow measurement whilst withstanding the arduous conditions inherent in many oil and gas applications.
