ABB to unveil its latest emissions technologies at AQE 2015

We are delighted to reveal that ABB will be exhibiting its latest range of air and gas analysers at the Air Quality and Emissions (AQE) Show at the Telford International Centre (22nd – 23rd April 2015). Stands 70 and 71 will feature a comprehensive selection of ABB equipment including laser, zirconia and FTIR spectrometry.

Taking centre stage will be ABB’s new ACF5000 hot/wet extractive continuous emissions monitoring system for combustion applications.

Using FTIR technology, the ACF5000 enables simultaneous analysis of up to 15 different gas components including SO2, CO2, CO, NH3 and VOCs using a single sample probe system.

Completely self-contained, the ACF5000 offers a turnkey solution for combustion process monitoring in municipal and hazardous waste incineration and power plants using coal, oil or waste.

The system is also currently undergoing MCERTS certification for use in process plants for applications including DeNOx and DeSOx plant optimization and HCL scrubber monitoring.

Other products on show will include the stand-alone LS4000 laser gas analyser system for use in hazardous locations. Enabling in-situ monitoring of stacks, pipes, process chambers and other similar applications, the LS4000 uses tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) to provide direct measurement of hazardous gas streams. Offering a very fast response time, the LS4000 is especially suited to high pressure, high temperature applications with fast changing conditions.

Other equipment on display will be ABB’s Endura AZ20 zirconia oxygen and StackFlowMaster instruments. The AZ20 is a compact combustion gas analyser for high temperature applications up to 800°C. Manufactured using a new ceramic-to-steel bonding process, the AZ20 offers improved resistance to thermal stresses and shocks compared to a conventional brazed design. This enables it to be used in a wider range of applications subject to sudden variations in process temperatures, as well as offering a gas tight bond throughout its operating temperature range.

The StackFlowMaster is an in-situ device for measuring flows in stacks up to eight metres in diameter. The StackFlowMaster manual version is for use in applications with relatively clean gases such as gas fired combustion processes. The StackFlowMaster automatic version features a purging and auto/span zero capability, making it suitable for applications with dust-laden gas streams.

Joining these products will be examples from ABB’s EasyLine EL3000 range of photometers for gas analysis. Based on ABB’s MCERTS-approved extractive continuous gas analysis technology, the EL range is available in both infrared (IR) and ultra-violet (UV) photometers, with a choice of sensing and analyser options including electrochemical, paramagnetic, thermal conductivity and trace oxygen.

ABB will also be hosting a workshop covering key issues affecting the deployment of gas analysers in industrial applications. The workshop, hosted by our very own Analytical Product Manager, Günter Haberzettl, will explain how implementing a QAL3 evaluation tool into a continuous emissions monitoring system can help simplify data storage and reporting, with users able to access data via a web browser (12.00 12.30pm, April 22nd, room 2; 12:00 – 12:30pm April 23rd, room 4).
